BL-007Interactive Tool
BuiltAI Tools Hub
Three small interactive tools — a prompt builder, an AI skill check, and a use-case finder — that give visitors something to do, not just read. No signup, no AI calls.
01The problem
What needed to change
Reading about AI doesn't build confidence — trying something does. But most "AI tools" online want an email address, a subscription, or an API key before you can touch anything.
02Context & constraints
What shaped the build
Live at /tools. Each tool routes onward: the skill check recommends a learning path and starter pack, the use-case finder links matching prompts, and the prompt builder feeds the library.
No AI API — every tool is deterministic, pure frontend
No accounts — tool state persists per device
Every result must route somewhere useful in the wider site
03Goals
What success meant
- Give visitors hands-on value in under two minutes
- Route every result to a next step
- Persist in-progress work so closing a tab costs nothing
04Approach
How it was built
Prompt Builder
A structured form assembles a complete prompt live as you type — task, audience, tone, format, context, constraints — with the result ready to copy.
AI Skill Check
A short quiz scores into one of four profiles, each mapped to a recommended learning path and starter pack.
Use Case Finder
Industry and pain-point selections score a catalog of 19 mapped workflows and return the top matches, linked to related prompts.

Deterministic, explainable output
Go somewhere
Every result links to a next step
07Outcome
Where it landed
The site's hands-on layer: visitors can build a prompt, place their skill level, and find workflows for their industry — and every result hands them a next step instead of a dead end.
On the record
3 interactive tools
19 catalogued workflows
4 skill-check result profiles
Only verifiable facts appear here — no estimated business metrics, ever.
08Field notes
Lessons & what's next
What was learned
- Tools that end in a dead-end result waste the moment — every output needs a "now what" link.
- Persisting tool state made the tools feel like part of the site, not toys.
Future work
- A deeper readiness diagnostic (partially covered by the Project Intake Lab)
