Build LogProof of work

Real systems, built and documented

Tools, prompt systems, workflows, and learning experiences built by Mattie Labs — written up the way an engagement actually runs: the problem, the constraints, the approach, and what came out of it. No invented clients, no invented numbers.

Built

Starting a consulting conversation is the hardest step. Most visitors don't arrive with a clear brief — they arrive with a vague sense that AI could help, no vocabulary for what they need, and a blank contact form staring back at them.

A guided intake that turns "I think AI could help" into a structured project brief — with a readiness snapshot, a service match, and a draft master prompt, all derived by plain rules.

  • Six-step guided wizard with a review screen and per-step validation
  • AI readiness snapshot — five stages from a transparent additive score
  • Rule-based service matching with primary and secondary recommendations
  • AI Working Profile assembled from the answers

02The build log

Every build, on record

Filter by the kind of system you're curious about — each entry opens a full case study: the problem, the constraints, the approach, and what came out of it.

03The method

How every build gets made

The same working rules apply whether it's an internal system on this site or a tool built for a client.

Build philosophy

Understand the real problem

Not the requested feature — the friction behind it. Sometimes the honest answer is that nothing needs to be built.

Choose the simplest useful system

The smallest tool, prompt set, or workflow that solves it. Complexity has to earn its way in.

Build in small testable stages

Working stages over big reveals — each one checked against the real work it's meant to help.

Keep humans in control

AI drafts, suggests, and accelerates. A person reviews, decides, and stays the voice.

Document the handoff

Plain-language docs so what's built is owned and understood — not a dependency on whoever built it.

Improve from real use

The build log stays open. Systems get refined by how they hold up in actual work, not by roadmap theater.

Have a workflow, idea, or repeated task worth improving?

The Project Intake Lab turns it into a structured brief in one sitting — or send a quick note and we'll take it from there. Honest scoping either way, including “you don't need anything custom.”
