Help me audit a workflow I repeat, so I can see where it's slow, risky, or wasteful. The workflow: [WHAT IT IS, START TO FINISH — E.G., "HOW WE HANDLE A NEW ORDER FROM PAYMENT TO SHIPPED"] How it works now, roughly: [THE STEPS AS THEY ACTUALLY HAPPEN — MESSY IS FINE] Who's involved and any handoffs: [PEOPLE, TOOLS, WHO PASSES WHAT TO WHOM] How often it runs and how long it takes: [FREQUENCY AND ROUGH TIME] What bugs me about it: [SLOW SPOTS, ERRORS, THINGS THAT FALL THROUGH — IF YOU KNOW] What "better" would look like: [FASTER / FEWER ERRORS / LESS OF MY TIME / MORE CONSISTENT] Work through it with me: 1. Play the process back as clear numbered steps, with the handoffs marked, so we're looking at the same thing 2. Point out the likely bottlenecks, wasted or duplicated steps, and places where work waits or gets re-done 3. Flag where things commonly fall through the cracks, and any missing checks or approvals that protect quality, money, privacy, or safety 4. Separate what you can actually see in what I described from what you're inferring — label your guesses as things to verify 5. Give me a short, prioritized list of improvements: quick wins first, bigger changes after, each with its trade-off 6. What to measure before and after, so I can tell whether a change actually helped Base this on what I told you — if a step is unclear or missing, ask me rather than assuming. Don't recommend removing a check just to go faster if it's there to catch a real problem; call out that trade-off honestly. Don't promise specific time or money savings; frame improvements as likely and tell me how to confirm. Ask me up to 3 clarifying questions first if it would sharpen the audit.
Example scenario
